![]() Mainly because they are too BIG and BULKY !! With the introduction of the XTS3000R a few years after the Astro Sabers were introduced, one of "M"'s concerns was to cut back on the extra bulk of the Ruggedized saber series, and they basically made the case of the XTSR look the same as the regualer XTS case, but with a watertight rating of (6 feet for a certian amount of time ?). I've had several "R" sabers/astro sabers over the years, and, while they are one of the most indestructible radio you will probably ever use, they are very impractical in today's field. One of the reasons M didn't make a li-ion battery for the R astro/saber is because the price would almost definitely be even more ridiculous. They are ungodly expensive new ($100+), but I would contact Escomm here on the boards first and see what he can do for you. ![]() ![]() The ntn7058 is the only battery I know of that will fit a Saber/Astro "R" radio. ![]()
